James Polivka
A lifelong aviation enthusiast, he loves everything about flying. From backcountry adventures and cross-country trips to helping new pilots build confidence in the cockpit. As a flight instructor, James enjoys sharing his passion for aviation and helping others experience the freedom and community that flying brings. James really enjoys the rudder work and would love to help pilots earn their tailwheel endorsement so they can get a real taste of what backcountry flying is all about!

I started flying in 2006 in Olympia, WA and have flown over 4,000 hours in GA aircraft. I've made 7 trips to Oshkosh and back in various aircraft, have flown at the sportsman level in aerobatic competition, and spent 3 years as a production test pilot for CubCrafters. My professional career is as an aeronautical engineer, currently working as an aircraft performance engineer for Alaska Airlines. In recent years flying has given way to family life with my wife and two kids, but my goal is keep actively flying through the club.
